Indian contribution in the Math and Sciences

India has had a tradition of scientists and mathematicians since ancient times.

Aryabhatta, Bhrahmagupta, Bhaskaracharya, Sushrut, Charaka and many others contributed to Mathematics, Astronomy and other sciences.

The Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently launched the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) textbook. It throws light on the roots of modern scientific concepts in ancient Indian texts such as Binary Mathematics in a second-century BCE work called the Chandas Shastra.

The textbook indicates that India was the origin of the number system before the dawn of the Common Era (CE), inherited by the Arabic world around the 8th century CE and eventually passed on to the west by the 11th century CE.
