CBSE started offering two options to the students in class X; one is basic Mathematics, and the other is Standard Mathematics. Basic Mathematics has a slightly simpler level of difficulty as compared to Standard Mathematics.
Students who opted for Basic Mathematics in class X this academic year can now opt for Standard Mathematics in class XI.
The students can change to Standard Maths only after they qualify the compartment exam for Standard Maths.
“A provision has been made for the takers of Basic Mathematics to switch to Standard Mathematics if they wish to as per their capability,” says Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examinations, CBSE.
